Our story

Hema Agarwal smiling at home, in an ivory kurti with an embroidered yoke and a pink and orange dupatta

I have always loved ethnic and handcrafted fabrics. Albeli is my way of sharing that love.

Each kurti brings together textiles and hand embroidery I choose with care, and is stitched as a single, ready piece.

Through Albeli, I hope to support the artisans behind these crafts, and to share their work with people who appreciate craftsmanship from different cultures and would love to wear it.

Pairing a patch with its fabrics.

From patch to piece

Patchwork panels of people, animals and houses laid out on fabric before stitching
The finished maroon kurti with the patchwork village panel and matching cuffs, on a stand

The patchwork panels, and the kurti they became. See the piece

A red embroidered strip laid on pink checked fabric
A geometric embroidered patch on checked fabric, its threads still loose
Embroidered patches, waiting for their kurti.
